First we would like to take the opportunity in welcoming you into Nursery and thank you for all the support that you have given us so far.
This year each individual class is named after a creature. You may have already heard the children referring to Nursery as Curious Caterpillars. Our class motto is ‘Always be curious’.
Questions/ Concerns and Worries
We understand that your child coming into Nursery can be a worrying time for parents but I can assure you that all children are happy and settled throughout the day. However, please feel free to speak to a member of the Early Years Team regarding any concerns or individual worries that you may have.
Ms Walker (Class Teacher)
Mrs Howroyd (Nursery Nurse)
Mrs Edwards (Teaching assistant)
Thank you all for your support with our new school uniform. I think you will agree that the children look extremely smart.
- Please ensure that you write your child’s name clearly in each of their belongings. On the first day of Nursery there were lots of brand new jumpers with no names in which makes it extremely difficult to return to the correct owner.
- Please ensure your child bring a coat to school every day. In Nursery we have continuous access to outdoor provision which remains open whatever the weather.
- Please remember that shoes must be black school shoes and not trainers. Trousers must also be school trousers and not jogging style bottoms.
The children in Nursery will be going to the hall for a PE session each week. During this time the children will take off their shoes and socks and will be encouraged to do this with more independence. We would appreciate if you help your child to practise doing this at home.
Please will you ensure that your child’s coat has their name in it. Also, it would be appreciated if you could help your child to put on their own coat independently. Thank you!
Please bring your child’s bookbag to school every day. This week the children have started bringing home library books which will be changed regularly. These books are for you to share with your child. Children also make pictures and models for family members at home which will also be placed inside bookbags at the end of each school day.
This half term as a school we are looking at our community. In Nursery we are looking to answer two key questions:
What is a community?
Who helps us in our community?
To help us answer these questions we will be going for a walk around our local area later on in the term. (More information will be provided nearer the time).
