Nursery Week 1

Dear Parents and Carers,

On our main year group page, we have added links to useful resources and web pages that will support you and your children through this time. Click here to be taken to this page.

Alongside this, we will be populating  tasks for children to complete at home. These will also be shared on Class Dojo.

Here is a timetable with activities this week. These will also be shared via Class Dojo

Silly Soup
Phonics

You will need:

  • a pan/large bowl
  • a spoon
  • Objects beginning with the same initial sound (sock, spoon, snake, spatula)

Sing the song

“We are making Silly Soup, we’re making soup that’s silly. We’re going to cook it in the fridge to make it nice and chilly” to the tune of “Pop goes the Weasel”

Then add an ingredient. Repeat with each ingredient until they are all added. Emphasis repeating the ingredients back so that the children can hear that they all start with the same sound. Don’t forget to share this with us on Tapestry or Class Dojo.  If you need any help with this activity please message Miss Smith on Class Dojo.

Maths

Cut out maths jigsaw provided in pack. Stick up numbers around the room. Children to then count the objects on the other half and find the matching number to complete the jigsaw. Don’t forget to share this with us on Tapestry or Class Dojo.  If you need any help with this activity please message Miss Smith on Class Dojo.

English

Ask your child to retell you the story of ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ by Micheal Rosen and Helen Oxenbury. Challenge- Can you create a new problem that the children have to go through? E.g. ‘Oh no a puddle, an enormous deep puddle’ or ‘Oh no a Gelli Baff lake, a wibbly wobbly Gelli Baff lake’.  Ask your child to draw a picture of their ideas and share them on Class Dojo. Once they are all sent in we will be to use them all to retell our own Nursery version.

Motor Skills

Activities to support your child’s individual development will be sent out in due course through Class Dojo
