Monday 4th May

English

Listen to the story of The Rainbow Fish and then tell your gown up what happened.

Word of the day: shade (a colour)

Maths

Can you draw a picture of the rainbow fish and give him 20 scales. Don’t forget to write your numbers on the scales too!

Science

Can you find different materials that are shiny, like the Rainbow Fish’s scale? What makes them shine and reflective?

Physical Activity

Can you copy the dance moves?

Tuesday 5th May

English

Draw a picture of the rainbow fish an label him.

Word of the day: amaze (to surprise someone a lot)

Maths

Can you solve these addition problems? You might want to draw them out to help.

3 fish + 2 fish =

5 fish + 3 fish =

8 fish + 2 fish =

4 fish + 5 fish =

11 fish + 4 fish =

Science

Pour water into an ice cube tray or a small container. Put it in the freezer. What will happen? Have a look after an hour. What has happened? Look again after a few hours. Keep some in the freezer for tomorrow’s science.

Physical Activity

Run on the spot. Try making your knees come up high. Can you run for two minutes? Have a rest and then off you go again.

 

Wednesday 6th May

English

Can you explain why the rainbow fish didn’t want to give away his scales? Why did he change his mind? Tell your answer to a grown up or make a video.

Word of the day: shimmer (sparkle)

Maths

Rainbow fish shared his scales. Use some toys or counters etc. Share 10 between two people. How many do you each get? Try sharing 4, 12, 8, 6.

Science

Take some ice out of the freezer. What will happen to it? Watch and see what happens over time.

Physical Activity

Doing some running, jumping or skipping until you can feel your heart beat getting faster.

Independent activity

Help to wash the clothes, dry them or fold them and put them away.

 

Thursday 7th May

English

Can you make some fish puppets from card and use sticks or straws to hold them up? Can you tell the Rainbow fish story?

Word of the day: peculiar (strange)

Maths

Rainbow fish is as long as your hand. Can you find things that are longer than your hand? Can you find things that are shorter than your hand?

What do you know about fish? Ask the people in your house. What do they know? Can you find out more? You can find out more here

English

Listen to the story again. Can you write a sentence about Rainbow fish?

Word of the day: prized possession (your favourite object that you would not want to give away)

Maths

Look around your house. Can you find a square, a circle, a triangle and a rectangle shape?

Physical Activity

Do you have a ball to throw and catch? If not use some balled up socks. Play a game of throw and catch.

Do you remember thinking about things that are precious? Did you know that you are precious? Have you ever been lost? What would happen?  Why would people try so hard to find you?

Independent activity

Can you help someone else today? You could read a book to a younger brother or sister or do a job for Mum or Dad.
