VENTURISTS - The Business of Science Innovation Award
On Thursday 18th May 2023 our Venturists went to Leeds for a national science awards presentation.
Zeke and Arifa had worked on a 10 week project supporting the local community and this had been linked to use recycling to make a greenhouse.
They had worked together, presented to local businesses and then had been shortlisted for a national primary award- The Business of Science Innovation Award.
The project has seen our children plan ideas, research solutions and possible problems and then design and implement their plans. They have created and produced products which have been showcased to others and have been evaluated and presented.
The pupils present their ideas to a Dragons Den of judges from local businesses and then have the opportunity to present there ending to the project to the whole school and guest speakers from businesses across the district which include:
There were businesses from all over the country in attendance and we WON!!!!!!
We are really proud of the work they have done and are over the moon for them. They received £1000 and a trophy for their success.
Mr Tolson commented that as a school leader, this is one of the best projects I have been involved in and it's an honour to be nominated for this award. It has changed the lives of our children, helped them aim high and encouraged them to achieve their dreams. As one child said: "I want to help other people in the future, I know I can now make a difference".
A special thank you to Jilly from Participate who made this possible.
