As a school on Friday 28th June we celebrated OBON Day- One Britain One Nation.

This was a day designed to promote us coming together, not to focus on our differences but to celebrate the values we share: tolerance, kindness, pride, respect, and a tremendous desire to help others.

We had a fantastic time as we dressed up in our traditional dress related to our heritage! We had our faces painted, did some Maypole Dancing, made bunting to decorate our school and in the afternoon held an assembly to showcase to our parents  all the activities and work we’d done throughout the day! Then to round our day off we held an ‘afternoon tea party! where we had handmade sandwiches from one of our groups, we had an ice-cream van from where every child had an ice-cream and some of our Year 4 children played our National Anthem on their brass instruments which they’ve been learning in recent weeks! It was a wonderful celebration and another fantastic event at The Academy at St. James.
