Year 3/4 Gurdwara Visit
On Thursday 11th November 2021, Year 3/4 attended the Gurdwara Singh on Grant Street in Bradford. The visit was part of our ‘What does it mean to be Sikh in Britain today?’ unit of learning, and the vast majority of the children were able to experience a different place of worship, which is active in our local community. During our visit, Mr Singh explained to us that the Langar Room is a communal kitchen, and people of any faiths are invited for a free meal. We also spent time in the Darbar Hall, where the holy text – Siri Guru Granth Sahib – is used during times of prayer. Finally, Mr Singh explained to us the symbolism of the 5Ks for Sikhs, and played a traditional Sikh instrument.
